Here’s the APRIL/MAY 2026 ANIMAL AND WILDLIFE CHALLENGE

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ANIMAL AND WILDLIFE CHALLENGE

On the first day of each month various photos
will be provided,

Please choose from the photos provided
to create any kind of artwork that you like in any medium .
Please use only the photo’s provided.

You can post at any time time during the 2 months
[and even beyond ] and if you wish, please include any
works in progress and any comments. [ It’s nice to have
a chat about the challenge ]

I have a small confession - I posted the first photo of the bloodhound
in the challenge a few years ago but never finished my drawing so
this will give me a chance to finish it !

Thanks Viv. I hope you do try out your gouache. I'm interested in gouache, the only time
I've used it was during some life drawing classes that I took and that was only black gouache.
I've often wanted to try the other colours.

Oh my, just got new glasses and now I can’t tell an ear from a tongue. Must be the reason it looked out of place to me. So now I would only fix the ear.

Dog portrait turned out quite well. The ear does look unfinished, I would color it as in the photo.

LizC Thankyou ! yes , the ear , part of the snout and the right side of the background are unfinished, I
haven't started them yet. This was as far as I got when I posted the photo reference in the challenge several years
ago. That 's why I posted it again - so that I can participate in this months challenge by finishing it. I work slowly
and don't have the time to start a new drawing.
