Ink and Inktense in XL Mixed Media sketchbook. This is about 6"x6".

I think I was more successful with my darks than I have been in the past. I did three lighter layers instead of trying to do too much at once and the dark boards were much more evenly painted. Sometimes it looks ok in real life but when I scan it, the dark colors are not at all even.

Every painting is a learning journey!

I agree with Wayne. Here, your darker colors are on the boards - they look terrific because of the uneven valves.

Not sure why your scanner is giving you uneven colors when they don't look that way in your studio. I wouldn't sweat that here, though.

It's not that the colors themselves are different, it's the degree of saturation. Some of the areas got a little more pigment. It's not real obvious on the original but very noticeable on the scan.
 
Thanks Jo. I like old doors too. I think the old, weathered and cracked wood makes such an interesting painting.
