Acrylic Image Transfer

Wasn't sure where to put this. I have a question about acrylic image transfers.

It's been about 15 years since I last did an image transfer, so I don't 100% remember how to do it correctly. I'm thinking of using a Golden acrylic gloss gel medium to do it. Either on canvas or a wood panel, not sure yet. If I remember correctly, I just put a layer of medium down, place my image ink-side down, let dry, and then wet to remove the paper.
But I'm wondering... I don't see why I couldn't... Would I be able to paint on top of the transfer once it's inside the gel? I'm assuming being an acrylic medium, acrylic paint should adhere to the gel just fine? Anyone ever done this?

I have a bit of a vision for a two-piece project on one of my walls. I was going to entirely paint them, but I'm wondering if a transfer/paint combination would better achieve what I'm picturing. :)

You might want to look around on You-tube about doing image transfers. Some techniques are better than others. I looked into it, probably about 15 years ago also, never did it, but I remember one technique, which of course I can't remember - was head and shoulders above the others....

I'll do some hunting. I've been reading articles about it as well.

When I last did them, I think I just used Mod Podge glue to transfer my images. Can't remember for sure. I remember the images turning out quite nicely though. It sounds like gloss gel mediums work well for it too, so I think I'm going to try that out. I'm now thinking that I might mix paint into the same gel to paint over top. So I can have thin transparent glazes over top. Kind of hoping for a bit of a glassy look.

I did them on wood in the past. I might try canvas this time.
