Wayne Gaudon-Abstract 280426-Imagine what you think, imagine what could be, if you allow your mind to roam. It's quite a lot of fun to sit and drift.
8 x 6 inches .. acrylic on paper .. alla prima .. painted April 28/26

Oh wow, as soon as I saw it, I thought a fox was going to jump out of the painting

Thank you Donna.
I never saw a fox but fish and people and other stuff. I can only guess my abstracts don’t have appeal as they don’t garner much interest but that’s ok. I’m getting tired doing them anyway.

I agree with Donna. Heck I barely got a response to my landscape challenge. I think it’s great, you’re doing all these abstracts and I see a lot of growth in your experimentation. I also like the words you had to this piece.🙂
If you’re getting tired, definitely go back-and-forth with your regular work. But know that there’s a lot of different directions you can go in abstract. So if what you’re doing now is sort of giving you a MEH feeling, you can change how you would structure your next abstract or do it completely differently. It’s a challenge! Not every abstract will leave you cold
Sadly, it’s been very quiet on the forum lately except for the regulars. We’ve had a few new people, and they are starting to post which is fantastic. Abstract is never appreciated as much by the population as the usual subjects. But please don’t let that affect what you’re doing. I was just thinking the last few days how pleased I was that you’ve really taken this to heart, and pushed yourself to try something very different. Full credit to you. I wish more people would. And abstract is like any other style, it takes time to develop skill and start honing in on exactly what you want to do and to be discerning with your mark making.
I like this one very much. I like the background burgundy.

Thank you Donna and Christine. I guess I was just having a moment. Most of them are good abstracts but my last piece which I didn’t post was bad. I hit wall and lost my avenue of pursuit. As Christine said, there are multiple avenues and I just need to mull over what I want to express and how and then find a way to incorporate the two. As for abstracts, I checked the four or five know venues and they are dead as well. No posters and one even looking for moderators. It’s not a popular choice on forums. And some are so full of works containing no expressionism they remind me of no knowledge painters claiming to do abstract but just slapping paint. Abstracts need life as well as does representational works. I’ll feel better after a day or two of rest.

I'm not really an abstract person either.
But your painting makes me think of goldfish. Kind of looks like some fish and bubbles maybe?

Yes I can see, whoops no idea how to get rid of the italics hah. Well as I was saying ,I can see different layers here and your palette also gives a lot of depth. Nemo :)

Thank you. Way back when some 50 plus years ago I had a fish tank and I had the back wall display a complication of doodle art. This brought back memories.

When you write a post in the box, you’ll see a B and an I. If you click B, it’s for bold print with whatever you type and the other is for italics. And then you just click them again and they go back to normal. You can always highlight your word or sentence and click on either or both through either put them into a factor or to remove the effect. Or you could click one of them first and then start typing and it will have that effect. And then you just un click the button and it goes back to normal.
If you click the three dots beside the Italic symbol(I), you can choose your size of font. You can choose your text colour, there are a few different font styles, etc.

Hope that helps! 🙂
