I did the ink sketch part of this 4" x 5" image, in about ten minutes, in May 2024, as part of my "sketching therapy" to cure a "shaky" hand. I spent another fifteen to twenty minutes on it yesterday to add the watercolour washes.

Just enough color, and lovely reflections. Would have helped me composition to have the trees less symmetrical.

I did the ink sketch a year ago when I was focusing only on completing the sketch within a stipulated time, I used a reference so that I did not have to pause to make any decisions. And I was doing such sketches in the hope that it would help me overcome some severe tremors that I was experiencing in my hands. (It did help.)

I think my sketch is true to the reference picture, but I totally agree with you. As a composition, a degree of asymmetry would have helped.
