A deer and toucan

These were done for the Animal Wildlife Challenge for February but I though I would post them here as well. Both are done in my XL Mix Media sketchbook. I start with a freehand pencil sketch, then add ink with sakura micron pens, 005 and 01. Onthe Toucan, I also added some watercolor.

Both of these are terrific, Anne! I love the colors you added to the bird, but you have done a wonderful drawing of the deer, and it looks great as is. Wayne is right - I think you caught an expression on his face, but I don't read it as smug. To me he looks more pensive, head up, alert, sniffing the air.

I do too. I enjoy doing it and also looking at it. I also like line and wash that takes it a step further. It depends on the subject as to which I prefer.
