2025 - art goals

For the last few years, I've been working on an art series called "Taiga Series," which consists of art pieces depicting animals, insects, and amphibians from the taiga biome. Right now, the series has mainly consisted of graphite drawings, but I am hoping to bring in some additional mediums. Because of how much fauna exists in the taiga biome, I pretty much have an endless amount of subjects to depict, and I've recently realized that depicting them all (or more realistically, as many as I can) in graphite isn't going to do the series justice. The taiga biome is far too diverse for that. So in 2025 I want to take a break from working in graphite and focus entirely on working in different mediums, especially mixed media. Hopefully that'll help give the "Taiga Series" a bit of extra color and texture.

Below are some small pieces I've done in mixed media. It's a start! As I get more comfortable working this way, I'd like to work bigger and create some more complicated compositions.

I love these! I work in mixed media a lot and use fabric at times, so this is right up my alley. Beautiful work you have here! ♥️

Thank you! This means a lot, I've really enjoyed the work you've posted! Yeah, I literally have boxes full of scrap fabric waiting to be used. I feel like I need to work more in fabric if anything just to narrow down the amount of back stock I have 😅

I love the moths. Especially the Luna! (Big moth fan here)
Oh me too. I've always been more of a moth person than a butterfly person. There are a number of different months I want to do. The luna moth has always been one of my favorites though. :)

I absolutely adore these. Texture, color, terrific execution - beautiful work!

This is a thoughtful and inspiring project. I'm looking forward to seeing more. ❤️

Me too, though I do still like butterflies.
I'm actually planning a moth skateboard design. I recently got Poscas to use for it.

Lunas are beautiful. I raised a few this past year. A long with a Polyphemus moth. My other Poly cocoon didn't eclose...

These are really great! ❤️ ❤️ I think you will do well bringing in different mediums. I'm anxious to see how they turn out.

Omg, that's very cool you've actually raised some moths! Wow, it's so beautiful, that must have been amazing to see in person, especially with how big they are.

I didn't know what Poscas were so I looked it up. I might have to think about using those sometime in the future. Definitely hope you end up posting that moth skateboard design 😁

I redocumented this piece since I noticed it had a fabric crease, and for some reason it came out looking really faded compared to real life. Here is a much clearer depiction of it!

Gorgeous! Love the way you’ve made the colours around it.
Thanks so much! I appreciate it.

And oof I just realized why the first picture of the luna moth I posted looked a bit off to me. I had posted an old version! 🤦‍♀️ In the first picture, the circle in the "face" didn't have any purple shading underneath it, but that's something I decided to go back and do. So this picture is also the most recent version of this piece.
