Thanks for showing your process, it is always good to see how others do it :) I wonder, you seem to have a coloured ground in your first shot but then it is white - you don't do your painting on the coloured surface?

Thank you :) I have terrabytes of photos from those years, when I used to get up at 3 in the morning (or simply never get to sleep), and go out in nature with my camera. Many bad shots too though. But some would be nice reference pictures for paintings.

Thanks. Well I'm very slow and trying to improve on that. My wife who I share the studio with is so productive and quick compared to me (although her work is not as realtistic). In my mind the more painting I get done the more I can evolve too. And it would be easier to fill a solo exhibition...

I'm working on being more spontaneous and quick, letting go of details and perfectionism. I thought a quick study would do the trick. Bernini's David (well the head anyway). White, black, raw umber.

Hes mostly known as an author, but was a very temperemental and made it work with his paintings too. He put his energy in the brushtrokes and I felt that when I saw your paintings too :) It is something I wish I could do more myself... I'm working on it.

The place where I used to live and photograph, until 2019, was called the "blue mountains". It's not really mountains, more like hills... but blue they are. It's a bit higher up and much pine and spruce trees. This is inspired by a photograph I made by a lake in the forest early one morning...

If anyone wonders about the difference in colour ... well, I repainted some areas off course, but it's also because the first photos were quick snapshots (at least the first one was with my cellphone). The last photo was done with my DSLR, C-stand, polarization-filters, white balancing...
