    Yennefer in Cappuccino sketchbook

Yennefer of Vengerberg in the Netflix show The Witcher. She is played by actress Anya Chalotra, so I guess the portrait is really more of her ;)

    Yennefer in Cappuccino sketchbook

Yennefer from the Witcher. Drawn in Hahnemules Cappuccino sketchbook (with toned paper). I feel I missed something in the likeness though, but I had fun the first attempt in this sketchbook.

    Wip - Grisaille

Yes, I'm waiting on an inheritance after my uncle, and then I'm going to buy a new easel :) The one I use now was created by my moms husbands father in the 90's, he was a furniture carpenter. As far as I know it was the only easel he ever built. It has after that been abused and stored in...

Does working out boost creativity in your opinion?

Well, I been doing to little of this and it effects my overall energy. I'm sitting still in front of the computer all day long. And often also sitting still during the evenings. Exercise make my body and mind feel a lot better, so I suspect it's good for my creativity too. Now it is...

    Wip - Grisaille

Grisaille as an underpainting - anyone else using the technique? I'm just trying it out. Snapshot from the studio last night, using my cellphone (not the best quality). Btw, I'm going to buy a new easel soon - this is very unstable, just the other day I had a painting fall over me ;)

How do I create a painting – Canvas preparation until the varnish

Thanks for showing your process, it is always good to see how others do it :) I wonder, you seem to have a coloured ground in your first shot but then it is white - you don't do your painting on the coloured surface?

    Lukas WMO's---Last Light Of Day

That looks like really nice texture :) How do you like the Lukas WMO? I have a couple of tubes from when I was painting in my home, and I enjoyed their consistency, I guess it's partly due to the beeswax that they put in. But I often look for certain pigments when I buy colour and many of their...

Small landscape with tree and lake

Thank you :) I have terrabytes of photos from those years, when I used to get up at 3 in the morning (or simply never get to sleep), and go out in nature with my camera. Many bad shots too though. But some would be nice reference pictures for paintings.

    Quick study

Thanks. Well I'm very slow and trying to improve on that. My wife who I share the studio with is so productive and quick compared to me (although her work is not as realtistic). In my mind the more painting I get done the more I can evolve too. And it would be easier to fill a solo exhibition...

    Quick study

I'm working on being more spontaneous and quick, letting go of details and perfectionism. I thought a quick study would do the trick. Bernini's David (well the head anyway). White, black, raw umber.

    Studies ..

Hes mostly known as an author, but was a very temperemental and made it work with his paintings too. He put his energy in the brushtrokes and I felt that when I saw your paintings too :) It is something I wish I could do more myself... I'm working on it.

Small landscape with tree and lake

The place where I used to live and photograph, until 2019, was called the "blue mountains". It's not really mountains, more like hills... but blue they are. It's a bit higher up and much pine and spruce trees. This is inspired by a photograph I made by a lake in the forest early one morning...

    WIP Scratchboard

That looks really good! I have never tried doing a piece in scratchboard, it seems hard to me :)

I love the energy in this. It reminds me of the paintings of the Swedish author August Strindberg.

Another WIP - my daughter balancing in backlight

If anyone wonders about the difference in colour ... well, I repainted some areas off course, but it's also because the first photos were quick snapshots (at least the first one was with my cellphone). The last photo was done with my DSLR, C-stand, polarization-filters, white balancing...
