    Dog Oil Painting

Thanks, Wayne! Arty, it's 16" x 20". I sometimes even photograph them with the easel showing to differentiate them from the "oil paintings" on Etsy that are photos run through a filter, since Etsy doesn't!

    Taxes Alert!

Me, too. I come from a small business owner family so know that's there. Another thing, make sure you work your taxes into your pieces price!

    Taxes Alert!

I know many artists who sell part time or occasionally or even full time have flown under the radar with taxes. However, you might want to rethink this year. The IRS has been directed and financed to plump up their workforce, specifically regarding enforcement. That means audits. Also, the...

    Dog Oil Painting

No, not a wild dog, but an animal and that's where this fits in our fledgling art site! A commission, oil on canvas. I use Blick's Premier splined canvas, a variety of pro quality paints and disposable paint brushes (I like Simply Simmons angle brushes). I use liquin early on to dry quickly...

    FYI - WetCanvas

Well, I posted a link to here. It surely doesn't matter anymore and hopefully we will find some of the lost who are needing to find an art home.

    WC bites the dust

Musket, the Debates were such a time suck and so fun. They were actually the best place for politics because there were informed, thoughtful posts from many, many points of view. I have had my mind changed on issues because of it. And I loved the people who disagreed with me, even, because...

    OMS (odorless Mineral Spirits)

I agree, Bill. I just wanted to say something that jumped out at me is "precisely as I want it to flow". It's amazing when you are settled in on that and know how your materials will behave and can just not even think about it anymore! Whatever it is.

    Mixing with knife or brush?

Interesting. Yes, I do both, too, I paid attention to what I actually do yesterday and used the brush more than I thought! But just putting out 4 to 6 colors on the palette (including white), surprises me.

    Another Arizona Scene

Gorgeous! I especially like the light hitting the little cacti near the bottom right next to the large one.

    OMS (odorless Mineral Spirits)

No, it doesn't really, but you can jab your brush into liquin while you are painting and wipe it off for a cleaner brush than just a wipe. I usually have 2 brushes of each size going, one for lights, one for darks, but that's mostly for efficiency.

    Mixing with knife or brush?

I learned to paint by mixing many variations of my colors with a palette knife, then picking a bit of this or that to alter as I go, but with a palette knife. I've been watching some t.v. artists (Roger Bansemer, to name one) who put out their colors straight from the tube on their palette...
