Welcome to the Scavenger Hunts from Life.
The Hunts were started in 2006 by Jamie Williams Grossman as a way to practice with prompts. Artists have come and gone while forming some lasting friendships. We hope you will join in and tune up your sketching skills. All levels and techniques are welcome. We hope you can have some good times here. You can travel the world seeing the sketches of items at hand by the artists.

If you’ve participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-host-sign-up-list.2481/

Here are the rules for the Hunt:
*All everyday common items on the list must be sketched from life – not imagination or photo reference.
*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the listless, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.
*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.
*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.
*Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don’t have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt “week” will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.
*Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.
*Have fun!
*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not required

That's a fun new list, Ai! I love your parrots!

EP - nice sketching on the wheels and legs - lots of good angles here. I'm loving that purple!

EP: Thank you ... so cute fun and cool set of sketches .... Yess, I ditto Terri that special purple car ... and all those jazz legs...

Thanks for the list. Looks fun.
Ai, the parrots are beautiful. Excellent find for one wheel. Nice SUV. Your stool is like mine but more colorful. The trike with flowers is so cute. Guess I can sketch Gene’s trike.

So much for trying to comment from my phone. It is a complement to you, too. I see her distinctive marks here on my computer! Ha, ha.
EP. Love your sketches.

Of course I sketched on the porch in the regular sketchbook with a Micron 02.
Number 1, open field and Number 2, tree

Ai, thanks for the new list. Love the colorful macaws!!! What a great find. I like that bike/planter combination in the blue ink.

EP, good job on the wheeled items and the table with assorted numbers of legs showing!

Jo, your sketches from your porch always make me smile. I'm imagining you there with your feet up sketching away. :)

I've been sketching/painting with not much time to post here. I have been participating in a paint out since last week. We are finally finished painting and the work is being dropped off tonight.

1 - two legs - watercolor (Will be in the show.)

Joan: Thanks ... these sketches/painting are gems ... love the sailboat you did for the show, body parts with all those details... and trees and shrub shore line are nice.

I'm loving this Hunt! Wonderful sketches so far!

Here is mine. #1, fruit - we've been gorging on Bing cherries since they are in peak season, and I couldn't resist giving them a try in a small bowl.
#2 - tree. I can literally turn my head to the right and get this view from my drafting table. Kind of surprised I hadn't sketched this guy before. When my Mom bought this condominium, I was just out of high school and could still see the tops of the tree from this very window!
#3 - Flowers of an unknown kind from the front garden.

These are all in my usual 11x14" Canson Mix Media sketchbook. I used Derwent Chromacolor and a few Prismacolor pencils that I found in a box.

I spent about 15 minutes on each sketch. The tree was the quickest and the flowers took the longest, for some reason!

Terri: Glad you gave it a go. Sweet flowers, tree, and a bowl of fruits. The bark texture on the tree is gorgeous too.

#3 bottle -- done with cp
#4 four-legs-- dog figurine ... done using 3b mechanical pencil
