I've had similar trouble with Khadi paper, though it is 100% cotton it always tears with tape. And masking fluid is also deadly...

Yes, the paper that I use is a Khadi paper but I have not had this much of a problem with the "rough" version. Perhaps the "matt" finish is a thin veneer and that is why it flaked off so easily.
