I started this last year, but had to leave it till this afternoon to finish off. Still needs a signature so may tweak it later. This one started off in landscape format with more people, but took the plunge and turned it round to focus on the people. The hottest day of the year on Bournemouth beach.

C&C Appreciated. Thanks for looking. Arnie

Nicely done, Arnie! I would like to know how you depict shadows in oils if you have time to explain. I find them very perplexing! I think you were smart to soften those reflections for a more natural look.

Thanks Donna. I prefer to build water up with transparent layers. For this one I started with a sandy base and added some dark shadow, and then streaked in some light blue/violet waves. When this was dry the shadow wasn't dark enough so I over painted it with darker violet and streaked in some wavelets. However I wasnt happy so wiped it out leaving a trace behind. I then streaked in some wavelets and called it done. Thanks again arnie.

Thank you for explaining that, Arnie. Transparent layers are something I need to try, along with waiting for those layers to dry!
