11 x 14 inches .. acrylic on paper .. alla prima .. painted Mar 03/26 ..
I was taking photos a few weeks ago and had my camera on black and white .. never noticed till I go home and downloaded my pictures. I did like the compositions on some of them so decided to paint them and make up the colors. A lot of little details were missing as those were conflicks of warm and color from the photo but that was an advantage when I went to apply color. I had none so I was forced to make my own. Fun and I think it helped me with the light.

Well, well, well.... you now have gained insight into how I work! ;) I never shoot anything but B&W film, as you know. I prefer to make up my own colors. Sometimes I'm hand painting a B&W photo, sometimes doing an image transfer over color..... but I like having a B&W "sketch" as a jumping off point.

And look at you! This is gorgeous! (You knew I'd love it.) ;) The blues here are amazing - muted, going towards gray-blue - but still that touch of sunshine and some trees showing life with warm touches, too.

One of your prettiest palettes - and all from your mind as you recall the scene, and used your experience to guide you along.

I heartily approve of this approach! Applause. 👏

Well, thank you Terri. I must say I am pleased with my first excursion into your territory. I get to reshape the landscape as well as my only map is value and not liner depictions. Opens up a whole new can of worms. I did today’s the same way and I feel it’s stronger. You can let me know tomorrow. Have a 🍪🍪 while you wait.

I would never know you used a black and white reference - the colors are completely natural. It’s a beauty, Wayne!
