I started my winter pleinair season last weekend. It was snowing the whole time, I didn't have umbrella but I painted in the shelter of quite thick branches so it was fine. It's called "Ice" as I only saw and felt ice everywhere.
Oh, and the pile of branches is from last mid-summer party when it was supposed to burn but there was prohibited to light fire anywhere so the pile is there waiting for the mid-summer 2025.
You nailed the cold winter look with this one, Grapes. That water looks frigid but there is so much beauty in the color harmony. Any day that isn’t windy is a good day for plein air and I hope you’ll be out there again!
You are brave! I prefer being curled up near the fire with my iPad. I love the painting- a symphony in blues. The sea is almost aquamarine and the sky fairly cold - an interesting combination. The dark trees set those swirling blues off so well.
It's quite an adventure to paint in winter by water. It's always so cold . In the forest it would be warmer.
My brain probably froze but I think I saw so many colors in that water in front of me. The photo doesn't show the colors and of course it was very momentarily. It was beautiful to stand there and watch the moment changing in the sky and water. Thanks, Jane!
