Eco Park, Chetpet - 1

[Balaji]

This is one of five 5" x 4" pen and ink sketches made on location in May 2023, during a two hour stay at the park. I added the washes last night.

Very nice drawing, but a wee bit too much ink lines in the water for me. Nice use of color.

I like it! The lines in the water add a lot of movement, which might be what you were trying to capture here.

I appreciate what you have said about the number of lines in the water. When I sketched this on location thirty months ago, I had no intention of adding colour to it. I used lines to indicate that it was water, not land, and more lines to indicate that there was some reflection in certain parts of the lake.

I used lines, when I sketched this scene thirty months ago, to indicate that this was water and not land. At that time I had no intention of adding any colour to my sketch.

Incidentally I probably took twenty minutes to do the ink sketch, and I know that I took only around ten minutes to add the colour a couple of days ago. I mention this because the time taken influences the way one sketches. I know that I sketch differently when I draw or paint in a leisurely manner.
