11 x 14 inches .. acrylic on paper .. alla prima .. painted Oct 15/25 .. took a photo years ago .. I used to feed them and enjoyed watching them stack crackers so they could get them all in one load .. smart birds .. I had to stop feeding them because they came up on the deck and started knocking on the glass door looking for their crackers ...

Thank you Jade, Maybe, and Donna. I am going to give this another go. I had an artist viewpoint of things I could do to hep and I am going to try them. If I ruin it I will do it again and again until I get it better.

I love this crow! I'll be interested to see what adjustments you make on a re-do. This posture is great, and your purples and blacks are working well.

I agree with Donna about that nice green background, too.

I'm fascinated with your birds. Hope you keep 'em coming! ❤️

Thank you Terri. Elaborate and wonderful. I see you took a deep look. This one works but more illustrative so I tried to get it more to the reality side of things by enhancing the coloring I see when I look at the iridescent feathers. It looked reasonable this evening but it needs to sit overnight so I can see with fresh eyes.

That's reasonable. :) Blackbirds are tricky - but I do think you've done well with color variation and that iridescent quality from the light.

Your work always demands a deep look. 😉

Thanks Terri. Now I’m wishing I had made a new one and could have kept both. Oh, well. I just hope for the best. I’ll post it here on this thread so comparison can be had.

Thanks Sno.

Yes, subtle but effective changes! I like how the darker foreground actually makes his head stand out more. He would look amazing in a black frame.

Thank you Jade and Donna. I softened the edges around the body to put attention on the head and then darkened the foreground again to push the head as it was dark against light. He looks a little more fierce as I fixed the eye as well. I need to pay more attentionf first time round. 😅🤣😂 another good feature of acrylics is you can paint over in an hour

Definitely stronger. So much more detail in the feathers. Beautiful! Well worth your time.

I agree that this one is frame worthy! ❤️

Thanks Terri. It was an interesting session. Hopefully got a lot of tricks that will get carried into the future.
