Cape Spear Lighthouse is in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, and was painted for another forum's challenge. This is on Hahnemühle Collection 140 CP, 8 x 11. Limited palette of Ultramarine, Sap Green, Davy’s Gray (which tends towards green and is a little known “gem”), and Daniel Smith’s Green Gold and Undersea Green.

Joy, spectacular 👏👏! Truely enjoyable to look at, lots of talent in this piece and lovely colors - my goodness, I like your color harmony! 🤩

Wow, Joy! This is stunning! I love the transparency of the darks and the loose, expressive foreground. You created a beautiful feeling of sunlight that is making the grass glow. I hope you enter this in a contest - and win!

Grapes, Donna - you both made my day with your generous comments. It seems as as limited palettes work well for me. Also, I like using convenience colors, and was surprised to see Anna Buccarelli (lovely Canadian artist on YT) uses them, as opposed to mixing her own from primaries. Her book is really good - exceeded my expectations. So much so that I put an unsolicited review on Amazon.

I looked at Anna Buccarelli’s work and can see why she inspires you, Joy. I’m going to watch her YouTube videos. She has one on how to paint leaves that might help me to make less mud. Thanks for mentioning her.
