This is a quick, gestural, ink and watercolour wash sketch, in an 130 gsm, A6 size (approximately 10 cms x 14 cms) sketchbook.

Thank you Joy.
Do you have many types of bananas? We have a huge variety of them. And almost every part of the plant is put to use.

How interesting! What types do you have? That is great that you use so much of the plant. Jerry and I came from very humble beginnings and are very careful about any type of waste. We just have the typical yellow banana, typically from Central America. Sometimes I see plantains in the market, but they are quite costly.

We have yellow, green, and red bananas, and at least sixteen varieties that I know of. But most of the time we consume six or seven varieties in my home.

The ripe ones are consumed raw, and are all quite sweet. But there is one variety which is even tastier when steamed and eaten. We make vegetables from some of the varieties before they ripen, and also the from the stem of the plant, and from the flower. The bark and the leaf are used in packaging, and the leaf is also used as a disposable plate.
