I just finished another commissioned one. I'm slowly whittling down the list. This one was interesting to do because I had to keep it contained, due to not enough information to finish it out, so I put a border around it. It had a lot of detail work because of the saddle but the face was in shadow and couldn't see the features.

Your work just astonishes me, Sno! The saddle is gorgeous and I’m sure that face would be recognized if it was even more shaded.

Margaret, I am in awe of this. What is the size and how long did this take? What pencils were used? Sorry to be intrusive, but this is really exceptional.

Very nice work Sno. The lighting/graphite work is fantastic. Great solution with the framing of the subject.

Wayne, thank you. Yes, the lady loved it. ❤️

Donna, thank you. ❤️The Grandma probably is a bit vague by now on his face at this age. She said he is 23 now. :giggle:

Joy, thank you. ❤️The full size of the paper is 14"X17", and it took a little time here and there as I could fit it in, over about 4 days. As for pencils, this was completely done with a little mechanical pencil with a 0.5mm lead and tortillions.

Christine, thank you. ❤️This was so cropped that I couldn't just vignette it, it almost required a frame around it.

That is just...stunning. I have these pencils laying around and now, they will forever accuse me of not using them to their full potential.

You're amazing. Bravo! They will love this adorable little cowpoke. ❤️

Yes! I have pencils of every description, from hard to soft, yet I generally fall back on this little mechanical pencil. Thanks, Terri. ❤️

Beautifully done! I agree with the positive comments above. Interesting that you use just a mechanical pencil.

Thanks, Sanlynn. I always start out with the mechanical pencil, thinking that I can always add other darker shades later, and usually, if I do add a darker pencil I am dissatisfied with the results. When I use the tortillion/stump, I can add layers with the mechanical pencil and make it about as dark as I want,

snoball - I do the same! Haha. My 0.5mm 2B mechanical pencil is my favorite to use of all the pencils I have, and I have a LOT of pencils.

Gorgeous piece you've made here ☺️
