A Sense Of Place No. IV

Full sheet of 300lb rough surface cold pressed 22.5 x 30.25 watercolor paper. Painted with SoHo HB Acrylics using a 2 1/2 inch angled brush with dry brush technique.
The FG has changed quite a bit 😳 but I tried to maintain a reflective sense of the existing dominate colors while keeping the FG soft so it would be in tune with the upper portion of the painting.
There was a tremendous amount of blending color with the dry brush technique, more than I anticipated.

I don't think it's the intent, but the blue stripe down the center gives me the impression of an image taken in the water with half of the shot being underwater and half above. The texture of the paint really manifests itself as moving water, to me. The orange / brown under the sky gives me the impression of a late afternoon sundown cresting over the sea.

Though I think this was not the planned effect, I think it works beautifully 😅

It is oftentimes surprising the image a viewer can perceive as compared to the one the artist intended. I have to say the painting you describe was the furthest thing from my mind.
Let me explain what my intentions were.
The river "you" see was intended to be a ground reflection of the shadows on the lower part of the mesa. In the photograph the color shows as blue - no idea why!! There is some orange ground reflection which is the color reflection from the mesa. However, you seeing what you saw certainly presents an interesting scene 😀.
I certainly understand why the blue could represent a river to the viewer and I should not have posted with that incorrect color.
Thanks for your comments 🙂 they are appreciated.
You have given me 'an idea for my next painting
River Through The Canyon. :>)

Beautiful! I LOVE the sky. All the colors are working so well together. ♥️
Even the "river" ? LOL - just kidding - 😂🤣😅
I will be more careful in the future and check out the photo colors more closely b4 posting.
Rodhlann correctly assumed a "river" based on the color.
