One more ... 4th attempt! Decided to get out an old sketchbook and just let it happen. I knew the structure well :) Kiddy quality crayons and acrylic pen. Doesn't do the birds justice, but could have been worse.
Thankyou. There was a community project to paint poles around town with animals of the area, I was involved in the concept and funding, but wasn't the driving force. I did a pelican and an emu. Here's a link to the project ..

I've done a few quick bird sketches- 2 minutes per bird, except penguin pair. In A4 sketch book using kids crayons and acrylic pen. No edits. Not sure I want to meet the chick after dark!
Done a while back ...while I was waiting for my 'pole painting' layer to dry. Pencil sketch, in sketchbook. Not an exact match to the photograph, but close.

A4ish sketchbook, 2B pencil. I have been using a standard lamp as a drying rack for my latest experiment. The lamp sits on a few books with a small acrylic work on canvas standing up.
Something warm and hot - standard lamp;

Walked into the room and unexpectedly met a Cream concert on the TV. These drawings were made as quick, freely drawn images, as the video progressed, in sketchbook with standard pencils.
