    Save oil paint

I've seen the trick on YouTube and even tried it. I was using water mixable oils at that time. 🤣 Naive experience aside, what do you do with the tiny water drops sitting in the paint? It's hydrophobic, sure, but oil blobs are very iregular and have little folds and creases where water can still...

A slight uptick in the number of posts per day

I'm afraid that the LOL icon at the end of my comment was too small and was not noticed by most who were reading. To put it straight for everyone being too serious: I was kidding!

A slight uptick in the number of posts per day

Now let's work on quality. Ideas for new subforums: Politics, C19-vaccination, climate change..... 🤣

    Critique subforum

Well, critique is not forbidden in other forums. What I meant is a place for critique only. For everything else, I do know I am a genius. When it comes to very creatively clicking the Upload button. But for my works, I need guidance all the time.

    Critique subforum

There are options in your profile that may affect and I also think there's difference in desktop vs. mobile layout. I had that in my signature on WC but it did not make difference. I had to explicitly say I want feedback to improve. But again, if I post on an art forum, it is never for a show...

    Critique subforum

Hi Ayin, and all forum members too, I am wondering if it would make sense to have a critique subforum. I really want to have an honest feedback if I ever post my work. I am not sure how could that be better to have even two... let's say different streams of critique, because there may be...

Do you use a light box for still life?

Why build it? If you don't have any cardboard box lying in the basement, you can very likely find one in a supermarket or other stores (depends on size).

    Paper Palettes

The glue on mine tends to break so don't rely on that. Mine are stapled at one point, which I complement with a paper clip on the opposite side.

    Paper Palettes

Before trying paper palette, I also thought in terms of cents per sheet. But you do not need to throw them away after each session, so forget your calculations. I use one sheet for many weeks (painting mostly on weekends though). And because they are covered with wax or something, scraping off...

    Drawing from Life and Ethics?

I am terribly sorry, somehow that was posted several times. I did click reply only once!

    Drawing from Life and Ethics?

That's a very good article. I don't care about street photography or photographers anymore, and I don't mind to be caught in someone's viewfinder. As I said, that picture I took made me wander more into the ethics. But everyone has their own. About a consent... I took a picture once of a three...

    Drawing from Life and Ethics?

Not true. It may depend on where you are, but the most common rule is that once you go out, you are in public, so you have to sacrifice that privacy you have at home.

    Drawing from Life and Ethics?

There is that fashion of "street photography" started by Cartier-Bresson, at least one photo above is his. I tried that few times. It totally fine I think to shoot from afar, not sticking your lens into the people's face. And when they look away. But I still regret a photo of a cheese selling...
