Thank you, Bongo! I appreciate the encouragement, Donna! I like it considering it was such a quick little study.

Thanks for the encouragement, Jo! I just realised that I posted this in "plen aire" when it should be in the "landscape" forum..

    under the bridge

Thank you, Jo! I was happy to get this in about an hour. The early morning gets lots of shadows (we are in winter) at this time of day. The sun hitting those points really helped I think!

Thanks so much, Christine- so kind of you to say that! Donna- I appreciate this generous comment! I got up early to take the photos- the sun was hitting the mountain just right. I wasn't sure about the panel showing- but that's what she wanted. Thank you, Wayne- appreciate the comment.

    a request from my daughter..

to paint her favourite scene. She spent her teenage years in our small seaside town and now lives with her husband and kids 4 hours away. She asked for a view of Gulaga- Mother Mountain to our local indigenous people. She specifically wanted it to be long and narrow with the timber edge of the...

    under the bridge

I have not painted en plen aire for many years- so I took it as a challenge when I was invited last month to join a local group for a morning of sketching under the bridge. Golden Child

There is so much to think about with this one. The contrasts between pattern/flat colour/texture make me wonder. The story seems disturbing. The blank expression on the "dad" and emotion of the toddler are really effective. Showing the wood of the panel is also a design choice that gives some...

Wow- I love the subtlety of this- but is still shows real strength. Well done!

    Turbulence

A very atmospheric painting, Donna! Especially since it is such a tiny panel. Is this a timber or ACM panel? I also sense that you're having fun and pushing to the edge of your comfort zone- great work!
