This began as an abstract that I previously posted in the September Abstract Challenge. The original didn't feel like my work and it wasn't something I needed to keep. So I rolled on some neutral paint to cover over some of the busy spots and looked for something to appear. Two somethings appeared and when they needed the barest amount of definition I used rubbing alcohol to reveal under layers of paint or clean up an edge. 10x10 acrylic on watercolor paper

This is BRILLIANT, Donna! I really mean it. I love it when we are faced with a "problem" and come out of it with an all-new invention that's a true work of art. That's what this is. It's truly excellent and captivating.

♥️

John, Thanks so much for your thoughts. I was hoping at least one person could see something beyond the obvious. Maybe we can't help but feel a connection when even the barest hint of human shapes are involved? I would like to study that.

Wayne, sing along with me - Strangers in the light, exchanging glances ... Thanks very much. I'm glad you like it!

Ayin, oh my gosh your comment gave me a boost of confidence. Thank you for looking and leaving such positive thoughts.

Donna, you can’t help but see that there’s a relationship between the two people of some kind. Even if it’s just acknowledgement of each other. I think because the background is slipping through,it’s like there is stuff to be revealed with what we carry around as a part of who we are. Or maybe I should just say it’s the “who we are inside“ hoping to connect with another person.

Thank you Kay. I wonder what else I can destroy in hopes of finding a better piece.

Christine, those are interesting thoughts. We sure do each carry around a lot of stuff but mostly we tend to hide it, right? I think you could read into the fact that one figure is colorful and bright and the other is muted. I could never have planned for that - a happy accident.

So true.
What did I say at the beginning of some of my challenges? To keep trying new things because you can create happy surprises. I love when that happens!🙂🙂

I missed this one until now - so happy to see it! Excellent job. I love that you kept working this piece until it revealed itself. The background has your distinctive touch of magic.

Love it!!

Thank you Dave and Terri. I must admit that I thought of the original abstract as an NTL painting - nothing to lose! 🙂
