Hi everyone. 👋🏻 I hope you will join me in the October Water Media challenge!
All levels welcome. First time trying any water mediums? Do not be shy! We all started the very same way.🙂Just start and play around, and see where it leads you!
I have chosen subjects that can challenge all levels. I hope one or more photos inspires you to pop out your art supplies and give it a go. Please use any of these photos from my albums.
Pls post all your work here in this thread during the month.
Pls post what water mediums you used and any other comments you would like to share.
Let’s also be supportive of each other!
It is better to try than not try at all. You may just surprise yourself! I love when that happens.😀
Please post your works after October 1st.
I do hope we see you here. Have fun! IMG_8306.jpegIMG_8493.jpegIMG_0974.jpegIMG_0785.jpegIMG_5602.jpegIMG_6484.jpegIMG_7060.jpegIMG_3574.jpegIMG_4612.jpegIMG_3108.jpegIMG_2603.jpegIMG_2021.jpegIMG_0234.jpegIMG_0262.jpegIMG_2577.jpeg

Well that’s the last time I load up my pictures on a phone. It was all in perfect order and then I get on my iPad and it’s a bit of a jumble. Too late to change. Sorry about that. I didn’t think it would do that!

Christine - Thank you for the lovely refs! I like them all but the striped teapot really appeals to me.

Oh good. The golden retriever hanging out of the red car is my neighbor. It’s just too funny. I had to add it in. He loves playing with my little dog and he really likes my husband. That’s who he was looking for!

"Two Kitties", gouache on paper, size some: 12 x 18 cm.

Didn't want to push it any further because it might just get worst as I have no idea how to . 😆 Enjoyed tremendously trying to paint this so that's something positive now!
PB, Do you know these kitties? Any friend's of yours?

Oh my goodness Grapes, those kitties are wonderful! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻I think you did a great job! Thank you for displaying your work in progress pictures. That’s always a treat for people to see. Gouache is a bit different from watercolour and I’m glad you’re giving it a go.
Yes, I do know these kitties. My former neighbour loves cats, she had four of them. Two of them were over 20 years old. And she knew when they passed she needed more cats. To her they are her children. So she asked me where can I find some lovely kitties in a rescue. And I knew a small little rescue that does a great job. She brought these two siblings home. Oh boy, they are loved! They grew very fast. They’re huge cats now and they have a habit of jumping on people’s shoulders and perching if you’re standing talking to each other.
I have more adorable photos for references! I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I was just thinking yesterday I hope someone posted on my challenge. I have not been able to get to it myself.
And I love your name change! That made me laugh!!🙂🍇🍇🍇🍇

Then I must have read your mind! :giggle: PaintBoss, thank you for your nice comment! I'm enjoying these challenges of yours. Lovely story behind this ref.photo. ps. I just had to 😂 change the name. 🍇

Here's the striped teapot.
20x16cm in my watercolor sketchbook. Im watercolor pencils and Inktense pencils washed with water. Had an awful job painting the stripes which are all elipses! This took some time to complete. Look forward to see some-elses version.

Wonderful painting of the two kitties! I was thinking of doing those, too. And I love the big dog---he looks kind of like my brother. LOL

I have a really unusual cat my son gave me for my birthday last year. I'm not a cat person by nature but I used to have several Siamese and half Siamese in the past. Titus is the cat I have now and his mother is a tuxedo black and white. Titus turned out to have a sealpoint Siamese "saddle"across his back and Siamese sealpoint colored tail that's striped with white kind of like a barber pole and he has sealpoint
Siamese ears but then one of the ear's sealpoint colorations go down over one eye like a hat poised in a jaunty manner but not on the other ear. And his eyes are blue! I'd have never ever guessed that a black and white mama would produce kittens with any Siamesee colorations like that but my daughter-in law told me the mama kitty is 1/4 Siamese. I was told by a lady who raised Siamese cats that a half Siamese will come out all black and with no white. And I've seen lots of those. In all my years though, I've never seen any mixed Siamese cats that got the blue eyes that stayed blue when they were grown but his are and he's fully grown. People ask me why I named him Titus. I like the work of a watercolorist in Holland named Titus Meeuws so my cat's full name is Titus Mewws....you know,---cats meww?

Titus learned how to stand on my porch rail and open the screen door to let himself in. And when my neighbor was painting the trim on my other neighbor's house the other day he climbed the ladder and sat there watching from the top of the ladder.

Vivian, that's beautful! I love the picture and thought of doing it also, but the circular stripes would probably not turn out for me. I'm not any good at drawing. You've done a beautiful job, though!
