I'm in US, Arizona. At age 70, i took up the pencil again after a 35 year hiatus. And I decided to try watercolor. The sketching is coming back. Watercolor is a true challenge, but it's good for us old folks to challenge ourselves. I'm dabbling in urban sketching too.

I'm a novelist and have made my living that way since 2012. Before that I was a professor of rhetoric. This summer I'm taking a month drive through the midwest, planning many stops for urban/architecture sketching.

Otherwise, I'm learning Italian and am a bit obsessive about fitness.

Thank you for allowing me in to the community. 👋

Welcome. I'm new here too. I look forward to seeing your drawings. The parallels between us are amazing, I'm a graphite artist in my 70s that also paints watercolors. I taught also, art at a high school level. And I write, mainly as a hobby. I live in the Midwest. Lots of interesting places to visit. I know Chicago has been getting a lot a negative press lately but it's worth a trip there. Art is everywhere in the city and the museums are first rate.

Hi ArizonaGal!
Sorry I missed this earlier. Welcome! Thank you for giving a description of yourself. So nice to know when I picture members in my head. I hope you will look around and enjoy it here. Look forward to seeing you on the boards. You’ll have to take lots of photos on your trip for references when you get home. If you ever feel like sharing any on the board, let’s say in watercolour for example, please feel free to do that. I hope you have a fun trip.

Welcome to Creative Spark, ArizonaGal! I think it's fabulous to take up art again after such a long break. As a writer, you obviously have a creative outlet, but doing something just for the fun of it is very freeing.

Your road trip sounds like a blast. Have fun filling up those sketchbooks!

Looking forward to seeing your work. Keep posting and enjoy the forum!
