Rough dandelion sketch in the Garden, 27x35 cm, oil on paper.
It's a two days lasting pleinair bc it's windy and close to +15 C so I didn't want to get too cold.

Thanks, Wayne.
I almost cut the grass but glad l didn't so I had something to paint. It's been so difficult to get back to pleinair this yr.

They are gorgeous, Grapes; very fresh and lively! I hope you get out for more plein air too because I know how satisfying and challenging it is.

Donna, thanks!
It is nice to paint something bright, green and sunlight after cold and dull winter.
Wayne, I think it's challenging in every age. Your right it does require a lot! I don't do as much pleinair anymore.

Kristen, thanks! We still have some flowers in the apple and cherry trees left so the bees are busy there. 😄 This yr our spring has been slow and cold, actually more like a normal spring like it used to be in my childhood.
Christine, thank you! Good observation. I didn't see it before you mentioned but we are blind to our own art.

This a lovely - and I love your thick texture here, Grapes! Beautiful job.

You're very determined to have stuck it out with the wind. I was out walking with just a camera, and the wind gusts were enough to make me call it a day. Can't imagine trying to keep the support intact long enough to get paint in place - bravo!
Lovely weeds.
Now now...dandelions can be used for tea, for wine, and dandelion root is used a lot in herbal medicine as a gentle diuretic, among other things. ;)

..dandelions can be used for tea
👏 THANK YOU ... I didn't figure that out. I was picking them for salad 🥗 but I will now make tea. I'm a big fan of all kind of teas.
Thanks, Terri, for commenting, glad you like the thick texture. I'm kinda pleased for this garden painting bc l do so poorly with flowers and gardens. I even try to avoid painting them.
LOL for the wind .. l did carry a heavy rock leaning to one tripod foot so that it wouldn't fall over.

Smart thinking! That's what I call planning ahead. ;)

I'm a big fan of texture. Part of what drew me to oil pastels was how easy it was to achieve, just laying the tip of a pastel on its side and giving a quick swipe. (Lazy painter here!) 😄

I've tried it without planning, too and trust me it's a messy business. 😅

Oh, love oil pastels! My technique is the same as yours but it works fine for me. I have no knowledge how to work with them 'properly'. @Terri

Grapes, you have just proven why you should be painting flowers and gardens!🙂
