    water soluble pen

ntl, if I were you I would go the fountain pen route. If you wanted to add watercolor to your sketches and have you ink lines remain, going the fountain pen route would allow you to use archival ink (something you don't get with ballpoints). If I were in your shoes (and one of these days I might...

The power of a limited palette of desaturated colors

It was neutral yellow (Progresso Woodless Light Yellow colored pencil) that gave me green with black.

The power of a limited palette of desaturated colors

Given that I'd be working with colored pencils and possibly also watercolor crayons (and thus not know the exact pigments I'd be dealing with), the results will be interesting. In my mixing tests I was able to get olive-looking green that was not muddy from yellow and black.

The power of a limited palette of desaturated colors

I can see it, thanks. Want to give this a go in some of my drawing media (or as I can them dry painting media).

The power of a limited palette of desaturated colors

Hi Renato. Interesting idea for an experiment. Unfortunately, your attachments are not showing up (at least for me). I get the message " Oops! We ran into some problems. The requested page could not be found." when I click on the links.

    Caran D'Ache Neocolor 2

Really good experiments Bart. I've been interested in the Neocolor IIs for a while now mainly for plein air sketches and have bought black, white plus the three primaries. Still, it's good to see actual sketches done with them (there's not many out there from what I've seen).

MONTHLY HOSTS NEEDED ~ Recruitment Drive

Kay, I wouldn't have a lot of time to post (have job search and finances to focus on), but if you're strapped for volunteers for May, I could probably reuse the photo refs I used for a WC challenge. Just let me know.

    Canyon Sunset

Beautifully done Kay. I'm seeing much of the sunset glow here. Could it be that the sunset glow is harder to get with watercolors?

What's Wrong With Colored Pencils ?

Lovely work Jacqueline. I think using Strathmore mixed media paper may have been part of the problem. It doesn't allow you to use many layers (I was able to get only about 4 layers before pencils started skidding on the paper).
